Praying for our unsaved loved ones

Praying for our unsaved loved ones (a more consice version - thank you KR)

It is God’s Will
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)

It is our responsibility to pray
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— … This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men…
1 Timothy 2:1-6 (NIV)

It is God who actually does the calling.
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.

So now what do we pray for?

Pray for Godly influences in our loved ones lives, starting with ourselves. Praying for wisdom, gentleness with respect, mercy, and to always be ready to present the gospel.
I Pet 3:16, Jude 22, James 1:5, Luke 10:2, Rom 10:17, Acts 8:26-35
For those of us who are wives of unsaved husbands, I Pet 3:1-6 instructs us to witness to our husbands through righteous lifestyle and behavior.

Pray that God would soften the hearts of our loved ones
Jeremiah 24:7, Ezekiel 36:26

Pray that they would have a seeking heart
Rom 3:10-11

Pray that God would remove the veil and give them understanding.; that they will see Jesus for who He really is.
to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in [the Lord Jesus Christ]

Pray for the revelation of God’s kindness to bring them to Godly repentance
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret
2 Cor 7:9-10 and see also Rom 2:4

Do not get discouraged, but give thanks to God for He is able.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
