Humble ourselves
Verses to meditate on and pray through
2 Kings 22:19Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard what I have spoken against this place and its people—that they would become a curse and be laid waste—and because you tore your robes and wept in my presence, I also have heard you, declares the LORD.
Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before God when you heard what he spoke against this place and its people, and because you humbled yourself before me and tore your robes and wept in my presence, I have heard you, declares the LORD.
Daniel 10 (emphasis verse 12)
1 Peter 2:13
Submit yourselves for the
Lord’s sake to every human institution, ...1 Peter 5:6b-10 (NIV)
All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”[Proverbs 3:34]
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
Romans 12:3
For by the grace
given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than
you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with
the faith God has distributed to each of you.
Luke 18:10-14 (words of Jesus)
14b “… For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and
those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Luke 14:8-11 (words of Jesus)
Psalm 25:9
Psalm 149:4
Isaiah 66:2b
Ephesians 4:1-3
James 4:4-10
1 Peter 3:5-7 (humility in marriage)

How to pray:this is only a brief summary instruction and certainly not a comprehensive study, but I encourage you to use it as a simple format to follow when praying.
I liken the biblical model for prayer to a sandwich. Worship/praise and thanksgiving are the “bread” with prayer being the“meat”.We should begin with rejoicing/worship, followed by prayers, requests, and petitions, and end with thanksgiving.I encourage each of you as you enter these doors, to enter His gate with Praise and Thanksgiving for Who God is and what He has done.Praise and worship positions and reminds us of Who our God is and who we are (Sheppard/sheep, Maker/clay, Creator/created, Father/children) from this position we are then able to more rightly pray. After all requests, petitions, intercessions have been made, thank God and honor Him.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
[1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)]
[1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)]
Open your bibles as you pray. The Holy Spirit will often remind us of the something in the bible and it is beneficial and wise of us to find it and pray it through being mindful of the context (the verses that surround the section we are reading).
As always, our LORD through the direction of His Word and the Holy Spirit have supreme control and we yield ALL things (agendas, plans, hopes, dreams) to Him, and stand on His great and precious promises, trusting the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us.
