My pastor mentioned something in sermon yesterday that we joked about, but it is frightfully true: that wives are the necks that turn the heads of the husbands. As a wife I shake in reverent fear at the responsibility of my influence. What am I turning toward that is turning my husband away from his focus on God? Where is my focus and how is that affecting my husband's focus? As a wife, my prayer is that I am always focused on God, and therefore that "this neck" is turning "the head" (and therefore both of us) towards God and Godliness.
This is such a weighty thought, and I can't seem to shake off the seriousness of it.
Shared with here and on facebook because we women laugh about it, but it is an eternally serious truth.
