the FIRST DAY of the week ...

Today is the first day of the week and those of us born not just of water but also of spirit by the narrow way the blood of the pure sinless God-man Jesus Christ, who sacrificed everything - EVERYTHING - to be a substitutionary sacrifice that we might not have eternal death, but be bought into fellowship with the eternal living God by His great love.  He didn't just die, but rose on the third day, on the first day of the week.  That as we follow in His "footsteps" in His Way, that we too have eternal LIFE.  So we gather, and Jesus by the Spirit of God and the Will of the Father speaks again to us, "Peace be with you", and we rejoice because of His amazing Love, Grace, Peace, and Power.

Grace to you and peace, from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood— and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (Revelation 1:4-6 NASB)

Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and saw the stone already taken away from the tomb. So she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.” So Peter and the other disciple went forth, and they were going to the tomb. The two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and came to the tomb first; and stooping and looking in, he saw the linen wrappings lying there; but he did not go in. And so Simon Peter also came, following him, and entered the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there, and the face-cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself.  (John 1:1-7 NASB)
...
So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord. (John 1:19-20 NASB)
