altars of worship

altars of worship in my home ... contemplating this concept

Not really a piece of furniture or a place in my home (although it could be) but rather an act ... a habitual act ... of preparation of mind, spirit ... and body.

The old testament model is morning and evening (and for some morning noon and evening).
The new testament model is continual abiding in the presence of God.

What is impressed on me specifically is to build up myself and build up my home by following the old testament model of the morning and evening sacrifice.  Something I would like to dig deeper into in scripture; and then start taking greater action at home to BUILD altars of worship to God - by setting aside time to prepare, sanctify and give back to God blessing and honor.

This morning ... I was thinking about stirring up the coals of passion of thankfulness and gratitude, at God's amazing love and grace, His personal sacrifice, at His persistent loving work of sanctification, at His patience, ... and so much more.

"Build Altars at home" ... the Spirit reminds me ... "build a fire of worship and prayer ... make it as pure as you know how so that the incense will rise and please the Heavenly Father and His presence will draw near."

God may be everywhere (He IS everywhere).  His Spirit always with His children.  But there is definitely an ebb and flow of the manifestation of His Presence that is conditional on faith and sincere worship.

As for me and my household we will worship the LORD.

But ... I must build altars (selah) ...
