Day 23: Prayer Focus: Emmanuel God is with us
Matthew 1:23 (NASB): “Behold, the virgin shall be with child
and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel,” which translated
means, “God with us.”
A short simple encouragement. In your battle to take captive every thought
to the obedience of Christ. You are not
alone. God is with you. God is for you. It goes beyond the steadfast
love our Heavenly Father who “knows we are dust” and deals mercifully with us (Psa.
103). In Jesus, we have a our Savior who
really understands our weaknesses, for he faced and experienced all of the same
testings we do (Heb. 4). Jesus ensured
that we would never be alone by sending the Holy Spirit to teach us, convict of
sin, guide us in all wisdom and righteousness, and empower us (John 14:16-17;
John 14:26; 15:26-27; 16:7-8; Rom 8:26; 1 John 2:1). So if you feel a little bit like the shepherd
boy David, trying to put on and use King-sized weapons that don’t quite fit yet,
rest assured the Mighty God is with you.
It is not by our might nor by our power that we have victory, but "by my Spirit,' says the LORD
Almighty" (Zechariah 4:6). He will never
leave you nor forsake you (Deut 31:6, Deut 31:8, Josh 1:5, Heb 13:5). Since God is for us, who can stand against
us? “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how
will He not also with Him freely give us all things?” (Rom. 8:31-32).
Be encouraged (and of good courage) God is with us - EMMANUEL
