God's Peace Our guard

God's Peace Our guard

"Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7 NLT

The Christmas season is now at full throttle.  So many expectations, so many more things to worry and fret over, so many more things to distract us (either with joys or sorrows), so many things triggering many thoughts that rush about in our minds, and so many emotions that flood our hearts.  Thank God we have the peace of God to guard our heart and mind.  The word “guard” here in the Greek means “to protect by a military guard, either to prevent hostile invasion, or to keep the inhabitants of a besieged city from flight”.  Isn’t this great!  This means that God’s peace is like an army posted around us, preventing the invasion and keeping us safe and secure with no reason to flee even if it looks like we are surrounded an army that may over take us at any moment.  Our hope and security is in God and we are kept within His peace.  Be encouraged tonight that God’s peace “which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Now let’s put this in action:  “in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” "Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7 NLT

Romans 8:6
For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set of the Spirit is life and peace.

2 Corinthians 13:11
Finally, brothers, rejoice. Become mature, be encouraged, be of the same mind, be at peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.

... let the peace which comes from Christ rule and act as umpire continually in your hearts deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds ... And be thankful, giving praise to God always. (Col 3:15 paraphrased)
