I am so thankful for the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to be my guide and my strength.
I am binding all my emotions and thoughts into submission to Christ through the bond of love.
I believe that Love is paramount, so the first verse that popped in my head was
"Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful." Col 3:15-16 (NLT)
After a quick double check cross reference, I meditated on Eph 4:1-7 using the Amplified to really dig out the un-Christ-like attitudes from my thoughts.
"I therefore, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to and beg you to walk (lead a life) worthy of the divine calling to which you have been called, with behavior that is a credit to the summons to God’s service, living with complete lowliness of mind (humility) and meekness (unselfishness, gentleness, mildness), with patience, bearing with one another and making allowances because you love one another. Be eager and strive earnestly to guard and keep the harmony and oneness of (and produced by) the Spirit in the binding power of peace.
There is one body and one Spirit—just as there is also one hope that belongs to the calling you received— There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of us all, Who is above all, Sovereign over all, pervading all and living in us all.
Yet grace (God’s unmerited favor) was given to each of us individually, (not indiscriminately, but in different ways) in proportion to the measure of Christ’s rich and bounteous gift." Eph 4:1-7 (AMP)
From there to the let all bitterness ... be put away from Eph 4:31-32
"Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you."
Eph 4:31-32 (NASB)
Then on and on reading scripture after scripture, stopping to meditate and pray and ask for God's help, until I could get my thoughts and emotions in alignment with God's love and righteousness ... in alignment with the righteousness of Christ Jesus and the Holiness of His Spirit that dwell in me, as a gift from God received by faith.
My key verses are listed and linked below:
Eph 4:1-7, Eph 4:31-32, Col 3:12-15, 1Pet 3:8-9, 1Cor 13:4-7, 1Cor 13:13, 1 John 4:16, Rom 15:5, Ro 12:16-18, 1Co 1:10
I am so very very thankful for God's Word and God's Holy Spirit and the deep deep Love of our Father God! Everyday, indeed in every moment, God is perfecting the beauty of this not yet complete masterpiece of me and my life, and producing in me, in increasing measure, with my cooperative choices, more of the character and fruit of my Heavenly Father.
MY PRAYER:
Thank you Father God! I mean this from the depths of my heart, thank you. For your Word, and even for situations that stirred up the sinful side of me, for humility it brings. Thank you for your help and your strength, thank you for your guidance and your presence with me. Thank you that your Spirit stirs up the Word of God to not just be regulations and guidelines but a living Hope and a fresh revelation of the Daughter of the King of Kings You are producing in me.
Thank you for Your Keeping Power. Thank you again for redemption and sanctification.
AMEN
