I spent some time this morning rereading bible study notes (notes, key verses, & memory verses ) from the last 2-3 years. What a refreshing time! I see how God has been building the truth from His Word and thru times of worship and times of prayer! I am so thankful for His transformative faithful love and truth!!
"My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." (Exodus 33:14 ESV)
I recorded that in my bible study & prayer notes in June 2012 and now 2 years later I am receiving revelation from this passage and the study of Moses' life with God.
The revelation of the power of Moses' passionate pursuit of the PRESENCE of God and how it is God's abiding presence that brings rest.
Being given rest is not arriving at "a place of promise" - otherwise Moses missed out on God's rest and we know that is not true - in fact Moses entered into a special place of rest and position with God as confirmed by what Peter saw on the mount of transfiguration. Please don't think I am discounting the power of God's promises and the importance of righteous obedience in all things - certainly not. I am simply trying to point out the huge priority of passionate pursuit of God's presence - that mind/heart intensional attitude that says " my heart said to You, 'Your face, O LORD, I shall seek'." Psalm 27:8 (NASB)" It is putting the priority of faith and relationship before works. Which is the difference between empty religious ritual in effort to fulfill the law (our righteousness), and seeking God's face - moment to moment intimacy of seeking God of asking God for a greater and greater revelation of who He is, and then having that revelation manifest itself with the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith, and faith producing faithful service. "Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?" James 2:22 NKJV
This concept is so amazingly clear with all of scripture confirming and compounding on itself; all connected and exponentially magnifying itself.
Anywhooooo ...
This morning I am reminded of and so very thankful for God's relentless faithful transformation of our lives by His Spirit (in prayer and worship) and by His Word (hearing it, writing it, repeating it, & studying it).
Oh how deeply He loves us!!
