I wanted to reject this statement by
Danny Lee Silk:
"The feeling of rejection is
painful enough to make us want to change our goal from connection with someone
we love, to protecting ourselves from them. Protecting ourselves may make us
feel powerful, but THIS "power" is an ILLUSION. Powerful people will
not let the fear of pain cause them to withdraw or keep them from their goal of
connection."
Surely we are to guard our hearts I
said to myself. So I went to the bible to see if what Silk said is true (Genesis to Revelation).
Okay it is also true that I am to guard
my heart, BUT we are commanded to love extravagantly, sacrificially, and accessibly
like Jesus did.
*snip* *snip* I am being pruned to
bear more fruit.
John 15:2; Hebrews 12:12; Ephesians 4:2; Colossians 3:13; Romans 12:9-1; 1 Peter 3:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:15; Proverbs 20:22; Psalm 92:14; 1 Timothy 1:5; … (and more)
***more love – growing in sincere
love
***we were created for connection
The LAW of LOVE means we respond to
ALL things with LOVE.
And at this point the Holy Spirit
prompted my memory …
He has taught me this before [see “guard your hearts, Just a humble reminder” from Thursday, October 10, 2013 - excerpt/intro "Guarding your heart is NOT “putting up walls of self preservation”, it is wrapping yourself in God's Great Powerful Love."].
And so, now I get to go deeper
into living this out.
I am thankful that the Holy Spirit
is my friend and my teacher!!
"..the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you."
